IQ, Evolution and Free IQ Tests
I hired the movie Idiocracy the other day and it got me thinking! Are we actually getting dumber due to our reliance on computers and new technology?
And with a huge choice of free IQ tests now out there are IQ test becoming less standardised?
I searched the web to see if we are indeed getting dumber and found that per decade the average IQ increases by 3 points. However as IQ tests are reviewed they are tested on a control group, the average score is then set at 100.
So although we are indeed getting smarter, IQ test score averages will always be the same due to the fact that as we get smarter the average, or 100 score will always increase to match the population.
So yes we are indeed getting smarter but IQ test scores will always be basically what they have been in the past… So does that mean I should have a 3% higher IQ score than 10 years ago or does that mean on average I have gotten 3% dumber when compared to the new generation coming through!
